SubZero

SubZero
New York City, New York, U.S.
Crossover thrash, metalcore, hardcore punk

SubZero is a New York-based punk metal band that was formed in 1989. The band was created by Rich Kennon of NYHC band Breakdown and Jim Eaton of the New York-based straight edge band Up Front. After hooking up with singer Lou Di Bella and bassist Larry Susi who had played in various local bands in the New York area together, SubZero was finalized. SubZero is one of the longest active bands in the New York hardcore scene, despite a period of inactivity in the late 1990s due to singer Lou Di Bella's bout with Acute lymphoblastic leukemia. He claims his harrowing experiences while in the hospital and numerous brushes with death have made him into a stronger person, evidenced by the lyrics to "Lionhearted", as well as a tongue-in-cheek tattoo across his sternum reading "Cancer Killah". SubZero have toured the world many times over as headliners and as a support group under national acts as well.

MD.45
USA
Punk rock, heavy metal

MD.45 was a side project of Megadeth guitarist/frontman Dave Mustaine, Fear guitarist/vocalist Lee Ving on singing and harmonica duties, Electric Love Hogs and future Goldfinger bassist Kelly LeMieux and former Suicidal Tendencies member Jimmy DeGrasso (who later joined Megadeth for Risk and The World Needs A Hero) on drums.
According to an answer given on the Megadeth website, "Mustaine and Ving created the band name by reversing their initials. Dave Mustaine's reversed are MD and Lee Ving's are VL which is 45 in Roman numerals hence the name MD.45", although 45 is more properly represented in Roman numerals as XLV, acknowledged in a later answer. The initials also stand for members of the band: Mustaine, DeGrasso, Ving and LeMieux.

Big Bertha was formed in 1969 by Dave Ball (guitar), Dennis Ball (bass) and Cozy Powell (b. Colin Flooks, 29 December 1947, Cirencester, Gloucestershire, England, d. 5 April 1998, Bristol, England; drums), three ex-members of the Ace Kefford Stand. Pete French (vocals) and Pete Ball (keyboards) completed the original line-up. In 1969 the band made a single for Atlantic Records. Although the a-side, ‘The World’s An Apple’, was a new recording, its instrumental coupling, ‘Gravy Booby Jamm’, was previously issued as being by the Ace Kefford Stand. A further single, ‘Munich City’, was only issued in Europe, where Big Bertha often toured. In 1970 Powell left to join Jeff Beck, while French opted for Atomic Rooster. They were replaced, respectively, by Mac Poole and Dave McTavish. Big Bertha split up in 1971. Dave Ball became a member of Procol Harum until 1972, before being reunited with brother Dennis and former colleague Powell in Bedlam.
