Breslau

Breslau
Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany
Heavy metal

Breslau was probably (one of) the first German metal bands to sing in their mother tongue. While their debut got positive reactions in German-language countries outside of Germany, they were (wrongly) accused of right-wing ideology and of using Nazi imagery in their homeland, due to their choice of name (see below), some out-of-context lyrics and imagery. This led to bad, negative press - something that would ultimately destroy the band's career. Weinhold -disillusioned by the allegations and the management/label's not addressing them- departed the group in mid-1982, shortly after the release of their debut (and only) album, effectively ending the band.
